Abstract : An analytical review of the operation of rotating, non-capillary heat pipes is presented, including a discussion of film condensation on the inside of a rotating, truncated cone. Predicted results so far obtained indicate that the heat transfer capability of rotating, non-capillary heat pipes depends upon condenser performance and is substantially higher than the capability of conventional, wick-limited heat pipes. The design and manufacture of an experimental rotating heat pipe apparatus is also described. (Author)
