Abstract : The author holds that creative artistic talent is not a unitary or uniform commodity but is to be accounted for in terms of a large number of factors or primary mental abilities. It is probable that the creative abilities of artists are not the same as creative abilities in other fields such as science and management. He cites the factors of fluency, flexibility, and originality, as the most obviously creative abilities. A full account of complete creative-artistic performance, he claims, involves evaluative abilities and possibly abilities that are not primarily creative. (Author)
