Abstract : The analysis seeks to elucidate the extent and some of the effects of West Germany's assistance to Berlin, considering the actual inflows and outflows and assumed revenue reductions. It further seeks to determine to what extent the inflow of assistance funds and the revenue reductions have been related to current and expected political tension and to what extent they reflect structural conditions that have built up over the years of Berlin's troubled history.
