Abstract : The proposed method of synthesizing phosphonitrile chlorides makes possible a sharp increase in the yield of crystalline homologs, with a predominante yield of the trimer. The method consists in reacting phosphorus pentachloride and ammonium chloride in a medium of inert solvents, with organometallic compounds used as catalysts. Organohalides of tin, germanium, and silicon can be used as such catalysts. Thus, in the presence of 0.5 mol.% of dibutyl dichlorostannate the yield of crystalline homologs of phosphonitrile chloride reaches 90%, with the mixture of crystalline products containing no less than 65% of the trimer.
