Abstract : The stability of organosilicon liquids (I) was evaluated in a 5-ball modified friction testing apparatus. The tests were run at 200 degrees under axial loading of 100 kg and 2000 rpm. Test results showed that the stability of I under friction was inconsistent with results obtained from tests under static conditions, suggesting that lubricants for rolling friction should be tested by different criteria. The stability of I during mechanodynamic tests increased in a given order. Fluorine containing I exhibited the highest stability, i.e., its viscosity remained essentially unchanged after 20 hrs. operation. (Author)
