Abstract : The paper develops a set of high-frequency saturating polynomial transfer models, the results of testing these models with two equal signals separated slightly in frequency, and the resultant ratio of inband intermodulation power to linear signal power in the case of a uniformly distributed spectrum. The models are useful in the examination of intermodulation products at power levels below and in the neighborhood of saturation. Saturation is defined as the first maximum in the one-signal power transfer characteristic. The models are correspondingly normalized by the output saturation power and the linearly amplified input power which produces this output saturation power. Testing these models with two equal signals separated slightly in frequency produces a significant indication of the linear degree of the transfer device and an indication of the ratio of intermodulation power to linear amplified signal power in the case of a uniformly distributed spectrum.
