Abstract : Direct measurements of the eddy fluxes of momentum and heat are obtained by hot wire anemometers at a buoy with servostabilized mast and at a tripod over water of 14 m depth in the Baltic Sea. Spectra of the vertical wind component are shown for different stabilities. The measured momentum fluxes may be summarized by a drag coefficient of K10 x 1000 = 1.2 plus or minus 0.24. This value agrees well with other observations. An increase of the drag coefficient with wind speed cannot be secured from the direct observations as they are not equally distributed over different stabilities. There is a tendency to smaller drag coefficients under stable and greater under unstable conditions. Additionally, usefulness of different methods for the determination of stress and sensible heat flux are described with emphasis on parameterization. (Author)
