Abstract : The purpose of this study is to apply the steepest-descent algorithm to an artillery design problem with the soft recoil feature. The problem treated in this report was to satisfy the constraint functions which define the firing-out-of-battery concept. Other constraints are also satisfied and several example problems are solved with results and discussion. (Author)
