Abstract : Three primary factors are considered applicable to the evaluation of transportation system safety--accident rate, injury rate and death rate. Costs are also applicable but commensurable cost data do not seem to be available. Data are presented for some of these measures for three urban transportation modes--the automobile, the bus and the subway. (Author)
