Abstract : A polarized Co57 Mossbauer source has been realized by using a source in the form of CoO (I) covered by a ferromagnetic Rhodium-Iron alloy absorber. One of the delta m = 0 lines of the absorber has the same energy as the emitted radiation from the source, and selectively absorbs one of the polarized components of the gamma rays; the other component can be used as a polarized beam in Mossbauer spectroscopy.
