Abstract : The report presents a preliminary version of a general simulation model of an interpersonal communication net which displays both geographic and social distance biases. The model represents a development of the original model proposed by Professor Torsten Hagerstrand. Departures from Hagerstrand's work include incorporation of: (a) social distances, (b) more flexible spatial structures, and (c) more flexible and complex temporal structures. The model has been programmed in FORTRAN IV for the CDC 6400. It draws heavily on a series of special subroutines known as SPURT (Simulation Package for University Research and Teaching) as well as several graphic report generators. (Author)
