Abstract : The purpose of the work performed was to produce two thermoelectric coolers for photomultipliers for operation in a vacuum. Thermoelectric methods of cooling made it possible to create small dimensioned, low-temperature sources of refrigeration that are convenient for use and easy to control. A thermal battery with ring commutator was designed which made it possible considerably to decrease the heat influx to the object being cooled, dispense with heat insulation, and to decrease the dimensions of the microcooler. This system of commutation excludes the formation of a magnetic field within the cooled space. (Author)
