Abstract : In computing the undulation of the geoid and deflections of the vertical at any point, the computations are generally divided into those for an inner zone and those for an outer zone. In this paper, the inner zone is made up of four rectangular belts. Equations for computing the coefficients of the gravity anomalies of each rectangle are derived. Assuming that standard errors of all anomalies are known, the coefficients obtained above can also be used to estimate the accuracies of the undulations and deflections. In a sample computation done, it was found that while there is practically no correlation between the three quantities at one point, there is varying correlation with those at other points. The correlation between all the parameters is minimum for two points only if they are separated by a spherical distance of approximately 100 degrees. (Author)
