Abstract : The effect of crystal orientation and type and amount of impurities on the electrical resistivity, thermal conductivity and superconductivity transition curve of tin and indium has been investigated. The electrical resistance of tin samples with cadmium, antimony, indium and zinc impurities has been measured as a function of impurity content at 373K, 273K, 77K and 4.2K. The change in anisotropy with impurity type is explained on the basis of a theory of Klemens. Lately some samples have been measured over the continuous range from 4.2K to 77K and some interesting effects found. The effect of the above mentioned impurities on the superconducting transition curve of tin has been found and agreement with the theory of them has been demonstrated. Also studied was the thermal and electrical conductivities of dilute Au:Fe, and the lattice thermal conductivity of Cu:Al. (Author)
