Abstract : Cerebral angiography was performed on 20 rhesus monkeys, and the systemic blood pressure of these and 4 additional animals was monitored to determine the effects of injected doses of 150 and 300 micrograms/kg. of histamine. No significant difference was observed in the vessel diameters of the 150 micrograms/kg. group; however, the 300 micrograms/kg. group exhibited maximum constriction of the anterior cerebral artery 4 minutes after injection of histamine. Blood pressure fell rapidly until 1 to 4 minutes after the injections, at which time recovery progressed to 90% to 100% of preinjection levels in 30 minutes. Slight dilatation (103%-104%) of the anterior cerebral artery was in evidence 15 minutes after histamine administration. (Author)
