Abstract : The report summarizes the research under the Contract. The main emphasis was on stability regions of discretization methods for ordinary differential equations. Results were also obtained in the following areas: Stability and monotonicity properties of discretizations of two-point boundary value problems; Systematic Richardson extrapolation applied to the solution of stiff systems of differential equations; Methods of characteristics for hyperbolic differential equations; and, Nonlinear instability phenomena.
