Abstract : Curves are presented which show number of minutes per year that the product, rain rate times distance, exceeds any particular value on a 10nautical mile path and a 22nautical mile path in southern Florida and in coastal Burma. The curves were derived from fairly reliable estimates of the number of minutes per year that given pointrainfall rates occur and a hypothetical model of the probability of pathcumulative rainfall for various pointrainfall rates. The results are applicable to calculations of rain attenuation of microwave signals in areas having large annual rainfall. This application is illustrated in an appendix. (Author)
