Abstract : The problem of electromagnetic radiation and scattering from thin wires with arbitrary shape and with arbitrary excitation and loading is considered. This is treated as a boundary value problem which is formulated as an operator equation. Matrix methods along with the method of moments are used to solve the operator equation approximately. Computer programs suitable for handling radiation problems and plane-wave scattering problems are presented and described. For the former, current distributions, field patterns, and input impedances at the driving points are determined. For the latter, current distributions and bistatic radar cross section patterns are found. Examples are given to illustrate several applications of the programs. Numerical results are compared with experimental data and with results computed by other theoretical methods. (Author)
