Abstract : Echo phenomena in several materials have been reviewed for the purpose of considering the recently proposed amplified spin echo as a chirp radar receiver. The technique is believed to exhibit considerable merit in that a number of desirable characteristics have been combined in a unique manner. If properly realized, a portion of the processing of the radar signal could be accomplished at the antenna feed element. However, the available materials still limit the practical usefulness of this device as compared to more conventional techniques. (Author)
