Abstract : Marine seismic investigations by the reflection method have been widely used in the USSR and abroad in recent years. The entry of marine seismic surveying into deep-sea water areas permitted conducting regional investigations of regions covered by a thick layer of water. A real possibility has appeared of solving complex geological problems under the conditions of the deep marine basins. Regional seismic investigations began to be conducted regularly in the USSR in 1956 and are being conducted at the present time in the Barents, Baltic Azov, Black, Caspian and Kara (in the Gulf of Ob and Yenisei Bay) Seas.
