Abstract : The hydroxyhydroperoxides, monohydroperoxides, and dihydroperoxides, as well as the disodium salts of the dihydroperoxides, of both diisopropylbenzene isomers were tested for sensitivity to shock and friction; the flash temperature and receptivity to a detonation pulse were determined. The dry dihydroperoxides possess weak explosive properties; they are sensitive to shock. Moistened dihydroperoxides are not sensitive to shock. A study was also made of the toxic properties of the hydroperoxides of m-diisopropylbenzene. It was established that the toxic effect is intensified with an increase in the number of hydroperoxide groups in the benzene ring. (Author)
