Abstract : The authors describe a specialized digital computer which reduces magnetic measurement data during the process of shaping the desired configuration of the magnetic field in cyclic accelerators and particularly in isochronous accelerators. It calculates the amplitude and phase of the harmonic series given by definite Hvalues at points uniformly distributed along the period. Particular values of the magnetic field distribution function are fed in at the computer's sixdigit decimal keyboard, translated into its 20digit binary code, and fed into the magnetic internal storage. The computer's harmonic analysis program and necessary constants are stored in a diodetype permanent storage with a total volume of 178 22digit numbers. Sixteen various arithmetic and logical operations are required by the program of the chosen computation algorithm. Control pulse frequency of the arithmetic unit is 20 kHz. Harmonic analysis results are printed out by the EUM46 DP electric printer at a rate of 56 decimal places per second. All computer units are based on semiconductors. Its dimensions are 180 x 180 x 50 cm and power consumption is 7501000 w. (Author)
