Abstract : The U.S. Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test includes a two-minute bent knee sit-up. The purpose of the study was to investigate the validity of this item. It was concluded that this test does not measure the strength of the abdominal muscles and the hip flexors to a significant degree. Apparently it is primarily a measure of trunk flexion speed and secondarily a measure of the endurance of the abdominal muscles and hip flexors. (Author)
