Abstract : A ring shift register containing n transfluxors is considered. Initially, the first transfluxor (TF) stores '1,' others store '0.' The first counting pulse transfers '1' from TF-1 to TF-2, and so on until '1' is transferred from TF-n - via a feedback circuit - to TF-1 and the output signal is supplied to a second chain of TF's. The flux is discharged into a resistor, and the circuit is 'primed' by dc. The operating stability zone is examined. A memory unit consisting of 8 three-stage scalers was developed. At 500-Hz input, the total consumption was 1 w; with no input signal, 0.2 w(priming TF's). Conclusions: (1) TF-type scalers are not critical to supply-voltage variation, are economical for an input resolution of 200 mu sec or longer; they keep information on loss of power, and have small size and weight; (2) a ring shift register with priming of input and output cores is not critical to the coupling resistance, has simple wiring, and a rather narrow range of stable operation; (3) the same register, with 'supporting' ampere-turn, has a wider zone of stability; (4) the register with a primed output core, with 8-shaped winding and 'supporting' ats ensures a maximum zone of stability but is very critical to the coupling resistance.
