Abstract : In studying the structure of chromium by neutron diffraction methods it was determined that chomium is antiferromagnetic below the temperature of 40 degrees centigrade. It was noticed that the dependency of the intensity of the magnetic reflection (100) of polycrystalline chromium on the temperature of the specimen has a complex character; it represents, as it were, two curves which make it possible to speak of two Neel points: one at 40 degrees centigrade and the other at 200 degrees centigrade. The latter circumstance is related to the influence of a dislocated structure on the magnetic structure. Recently interest has grown in investigating the magnetic structure of chromium and its alloys. The magnetic structure of alloys of chromium with manganese have been investigated most completely with neutron diagrams. It is clear from these works that the addition of manganese to chromium leads to an increase in the mean magnetic moment of an atom. (Author)
