Abstract : The viscoelastic properties of non-crystalline metals of several compositions were studied. It was found that all samples exhibited a tan delta peak at the glass transition temperature. Pd80Si(20) samples exhibited at least one sub T(g) transition, although the reproducibility was poor, while Pd80Si9Au11, in which the reproducibility was very much better, showed a very flat tan delta curve. The intensity of the glass transition, as measured either by the height of the tan delta peak or by the drop in E' is very much lower than in organic materials. (Author)
