Abstract : A hot-zone reaction calorimeter is described and tested by measuring the enthalpies of reduction of copper and lead oxides by hydrogen gas. The heats of formation of these oxides, in various modifications and crystal structures, were determined. The thermal decompositions of chromium and molydbenum carbonyls were investigated and the enthalpy changes for these reactions were determined. Thermal decomposition studies were also made on chromium bibenzene. (Author)
