Abstract : The research conducted under the contract includes the following projects: A study of the ionospheric total electron content during magnetic storms; A study of the world-wide distribution of the evening anomaly of the ionosphere; A study of the intensity and fluctuations of the 6300 A airglow line during periods of high and low scintillation activity; A study of the spectral characteristics of solar radio bursts in the microwave region (600-35,000 MHz); and, a model for the source of Class I (non-impulsive) solar x-ray bursts.
