Abstract : The radio waves from the sun observed at ground base have to pass through two media - the corona and the ionosphere. Since both media are inhomogeneous, the effects of magnetoionic mode coupling on the variation of polarization properties of propagating electromagnetic radiation can be significant. By means of ray tracing technique, it can be shown that when the frequency of the radio waves is not close to the appropriate plasma level, the ray is almost a straight line. The discussions in this report pertain to frequencies of this category. (Author)
