Abstract : The more familiar soluble linear differential equations are reviewed and a class of nth order differential equations with time varying coefficients is shown to be soluble by a conceptually simple transformation. This transformation is shown to be applicable in theory, if not in practice, to a class of systems - designated as uncoupled equations - which is recognizeable as a class only after transformation. In addition to this more general class of differential equations, a special class or subclass of second order linear differential equations is shown to be soluble by a different transformation and the physical implications of this transformation are discussed.
