Abstract : An ultrasonic sample nebulizing system for atomic absorption spectrophotometry was assembled following studies which increased appreciation of the limiting factors in powering piezoelectric elements for surface nebulization. In the system, a sample solution is pumped to the vibrating face of a piezoelectric disc and the resulting aerosol is removed by a sweep gas. Nebulization efficiency is relatively independent of the sweep gas flow rate. (Author)
