Abstract : The research reported here is concerned with a unified mathematical theory for a variety of wave propagation phenomena of classical physics. Examples of phenomena covered by the theory include electromagnetic waves in free space and material media, acoustic waves in fluids, elastic waves in solids and electric waves on transmission lines, as well as many other less familiar phenomena such as Alfven waves (waves in an electrically conducting fluid which contains a magnetic field). The report describes progress made under the contract during the year, and contains a list of technical summary reports issued during the year.
