Abstract : Typical measurements of the time dependence on the depolarization current show damping of the current through the specimens subjected to anodic polarization. The relations for anodic and cathodic polarization show that the abs. value of the drop in the current after cathodic polarization is always lower than that after anodic polarization. Moreover, the depolarization current after cathodic dislocation disclosed an inversion in the direction flow. Depolarization current in mech. polished specimens were larger than in unpolished specimens. This is attributed to the fact that the oxide film has a more definite structure and consequently contains an appreciable no. of inhomogeneities responsible for the formation of space charges.
