Abstract : The study is based on observations in the Black Sea by using records of current meter during the year: 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964 at the depths: 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 500 meters. Statistical evaluation of 45 observations, lasting from 10 to 27 days, demonstrated that the currents of the Black Sea can be considered as quasistationary; their predominant velocities, dispersion and correlational functions are time independent. The desirable duration of observation is dependent on depth; for surface currents the optimum duration is 5-6 months, whereas for deeper currents 100 to 500m; the time interval could be limited to 10 days.
