Abstract : The report is a summary report of investigations on molecular lasers in the far infrared (25-1000 microns). Lasers studied were H2O, SO2, and H2S. Problems investigated are the assignment of levels for the laser transitions and extricating the details of the excitation mechanisms and relaxation. This understanding is needed to optimize the power output and efficiency of the molecular lasers. A new excitation method investigated was that of Franck-Condon pumping. (Author)
