Abstract : Active RC network synthesis techniques with operational amplifiers are reviewed, discussed, and classified according to the number of amplifiers and number of feedback paths in the circuit. After presenting the main properties of active RC network theory, various synthesis techniques are discussed and evaluated according to their merits, by means of sensitivity and stability theory. A modification to Lovering's circuit is proposed. Six design examples are presented to illustrate the application of the techniques and to observe the effect of nonideal active and passive components. The designs are practically realized, their performance is tested and experimental results are presented. Reasons for the discrepancies found between theory and experimental results are discussed.
