Abstract : The optimal feedback gain matrix derived from the maximum principle for linear timedelay systems with quadratic cost satisfies an integral equation. On the other hand, if the extended Caratheodory lemma is used to solve the same problem, the optimal feedback gains satify a set of partial differential equations. It is shown that the resulting feedback gains are equivalent. (Author)
