Abstract : A low power, solid state, self-regulating temperature control device has been sought in conjunction with current research being developed in-house for automatic, electronic tuning with non-linear dielectrics. Preliminary experimental results indicated that a positive temperature coefficient, thermistor device can be used in this respect. A solid solution of lanthanum doped barium strontium titanate can be tailored to meet the specifications such as the control temperature desired, the amount of deviation from this temperature as the ambient varies, as well as the maximum allowable power consumption. Results are given that show the feasibility of using a thermistor control device as well as its use in conjunction with a model of a non-linear, voltage variable device currently being developed in-house.
