Abstract : The goals of the investigationwere: (1) to learn more about the role of vasospasm in traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage, (2) to study the effect of hyperbaria with hyperventilation upon cerebral trauma, (3) to investigate the potential usefulness of intraventricular perfusion of hyperosmotic agents in the treatment of cerebral edema, and (4) to quantitate traumatic lesions and their treatment by tissue ATP determinations. Work is currently still being carried out in an effort to finalize the usefulness of intraventricular perfusion of hyperosmotic agents in the treatment of cerebral edema. (Author)
