Abstract : Tests of slots (inclined, vertical, and shielded) and porous-type ejectors for introducing additive solutions into an aqueous boundary layer to reduce turbulent frictional resistance are reported. It was found that the slot ejector is better suited for dilute solutions, and that the porous ejector is better suited for concentrated solutions. Compared to the vertical and the shielded slots, the inclined slot introduces far less mixing between the ejected additive solution and the surrounding water. (Author)
