Abstract : The collection includes subject matter of the scientific and technical conference on metallurgy, metal sciences, an application of titanium and its alloys, which took place in July of 1966. The following problems are reviewed: interaction of titanium with various elements of the periodic system (general problems of the metallurgic chemistry of titanium); phase transformations in experimental and series-produced titanium alloys; the influence of new metal working methods (thermomechanical forming, high temperature thermo-mechanical forming, etc.) of titanium alloys on changes of physical and mechanical characteristics. This includes welding and soldering of alloys and investigations involving the study of oxidizability and gas saturation for a series of titanium-based alloys of practical significance. Phase diagrams of titanium with a number of elements were generalized and suitable recommendations are made for the selection of alloying additives to produce titanium alloys having specific mechanical and physical properties; new investigations are reported for a number of concrete metal systems such as Ti-Al-Mo-Zr; Ti-Al-V; Ti-Zr-Al.
