Abstract : Infection of the standard set of differentiator varieties by stem rust under field conditions of the western regions of the Ukrainian SSR depends to a great degree on meteorological conditions arising during the development period. No completely immune varieties and speciments were discovered, with the exception of the Tr. timopheevi. At a time when the disease was very active, a number of specimens of soft and durum wheats were determined to be practically resistant (infection types 0, 1, 2). These could be extremely valuable material for creating resistant forms through hybridization. (Author) When it began to be cultivated, however, it proved to be susceptable to stem rust just as had all the other varieties previously identified as such and cultivated--the Khop, Tseres, New Thatcher, and others.
