Abstract : The report is an examination of the friction occurring between the cable and the jacket as it affects the efficiency of the cable-operation of brakes. The authors have determined the forces acting on the jaws of one category of transmission brakes operated by cables and have worked out dependences related to their braking efficiency. (Author)
