Abstract : The objectives of the grant, 'Electromagnetic and Critical Phenomena in Solids' is described. These include the study of fluctuations both near a critical point, and as measured by electromagnetic probes. Considerable success was had in dealing with critical fluctuations by methods of dynamical scaling, notably the method of mode decoupling was introduced and applied. Experiments were proposed and analyzed to deal with special quantum waves and states in metals. Further, work was accomplished elucidating the optical properties of solids. (Author)
