Abstract : The document is concerned with ship drag. The waves emanating from the stern of a ship are commonly much smaller in magnitude than would be predicted by any of the current theoretical methods. Discrepancy between theory and experiment may arise in part from approximations made in calculating the potential flow, but viscous effects may also be important. The present note describes a simple experiment which lends support to the viscosity conjecture. (Author)
