Abstract : The contemporary methods of observations on sea currents usually require the anchoring of a vessel from which the observations are conducted, which requires much time and is not always possible. The tests made with the use of fluorescein for the observation of surface currents have yielded good results. The stream of fluorescein shows accurately the current direction which is then measured. The application of fluorescein is advantageous in measuring the surface currents practically at any conditions in the sea without anchoring the vessel and, consequently, within the shortest period of time.
