Further, the oceanographic winches, cables and bottom corers used on the Vityaz are described, pointing out the maximum length of core samples (34.5 m, 28 m) that can be obtained by various models of bottom corers and their operation at various depths, including the abyssal depths to 10 km. In conclusion the paper outlines the equipment used for underwater photography and sums up the advantages of large oceanographic vessels for complex expeditions. (Author)
