Abstract : The report covers a broad spectrum of work in such areas as the high pressure synthesis of metals made of the Group II, III, IV and V chemical elements, the synthesis of polymers by the ionizing photolysis of hydrocarbons, the interactions due to d electrons and the unusual valencies of metal atoms in compounds with general formulas such as (M6X8)(+4), (M6X12)(+2), and (M3X12)(-3) , the chemistry of planetary atmospheres, the growth of diamond crystals, the energy transport in large conjugated molecules such as cobalt and iron phthalocyanine, and the catalytic action of such compounds as SrTi03 and LaCo03.
