Abstract : Since World War II the Services have used the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) to screen draftees and enlistment applicants. This procedure assumes that higher scores on the AFQT indicate a higher productivity of individuals to the Armed Forces. The paper examines some of the evidence for this assumption. (Author)
