Abstract : In a previous paper the author treated the problem of obtaining interval estimates for the solutions of ill-conditioned system of equations with various kinds of errors in the right hand side vector. The primary emphasis was on the use of a priori information about the solution in order to reduce the sizes of the intervals that were obtained. The purpose of this report is to describe some suboptimal methods which give interval estimates that are wider than the optimally narrow intervals which would be obtained from the quadratic programming procedure. The advantage of these suboptimal methods is that they do not require so much work to calculate the estimates. (Author)
